Arlo Finch in the Lake of the Moon by John August

This is the second book in the Arlo Finch series and it was absolutely mind-blowing. John August has handled the concept of time-travel exceptionally well. Even though it’s meant for children, it manages to astonish young adults too. Arlo too shows maturity in this book. I must say when it comes to time-travel Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite. But august has done such a great job that I almost considered declaring this book as my favorite one.

What I love about the story

I love how Arlo handles the various the various truths he finds out in this book. His line about how he chose and he wasn’t chosen is inspiring. We get to know more about the Eldritch and that is exciting. Arlo also proves to be good at making decisions and thinking on his feet. As I aid earlier time travel is handled well and i love how the story comes full-circle.

What I don’t like about the story

The initial conflict between the friends is something that i didn’t like reading about. But this isn’t the author’s fault. The story needed the conflict to make it believable.

Rating: A whooping 4.7 out of 5
